Well, there hasn't been a good clinic bombing in a long time, so how can the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reprot on the pro-life march in a way to turn people off from por-lifers?

Oh! I know! We'll run a front page story on the pro-life movement's lack of diversity. That'll do it! Plus, it'll give us a platform from which to recycle the same tired smears against the pro-life movement. You know, how they don't care about the living and all.

Be sure to read it using my guide. Wouldn't want to accidentally learn something.

Also, please try to have your response to it prepared by the end of the day on which it was published (I'm late already).

When the two-earner family became the norm, there was a lot of talk about how if parents spend "quality time" with their children, doing activities like reading and in depth conversation, then it would make up for the deficit in the quantity of time. The results have been, well, mixed.

I think a similar dynamic is taking place in the political process. We don't really get engaged in local elections or congressional debates. Instead we focus our energy on things like Supreme Court nominations. So, we don't get bothered if the state assembly passes a law that says that that the government can knock down my house so that Wal-Mart can get bigger, but we get up in arms when the Supreme Court says that the law doesn't violate the Constitution, and instead of focussing our efforts on ensuring that laws like this don't get passed, we focus on confirming Supreme Court justices who would strike it down.

It's laziness, pure and simple, and not how I think a democracy is supposed to work.

  • I've inspired a comic!.
  • "The price on the tag is the price you pay; not a cent more!" Wait a minute -- you guys are still the ones writing the prices on the tags, right? This is generally the way price tags work, isn't it? Seems like a strange thing to advertise.

What I'd really want to hear is that nobody pays a cent less than the price on the tag, that it represents the absolute rock-bottom price at which you will sell the car.
  • Where was this defense all year?
  • Without looking at the spreads, my prediction for them is

    • Jags at Pats(-8)
    • Steelers at Bengals(-3)
    • Skins at Bucs(-4)
    • Panthers at Giants (-5)

I like the home team in each game, except I like the Skins to beat the Bucs.
