WHO NEEDS A CHAMPION ANYWAY?
Once again, we are guaranteed to have two teams claiming to be national champios in college football, and once again we have the usual whining about the BCS and the lack of a playoff system.

To which I shrug..

Why, exactly, must there be a definitive number one team in college football. Why can't Auburn and the USC be content with their conference chapionship and an undefeated season? Why is it neccesary for them to be considered better than anyone else?

The existing playoff systems in other sports are more effective recognizing teams that get hot at the right time than general excellence. Anyone really think the 2003 Florida Marlins were the best team in baseball?
